Dempo trounces Velaso Pale 4-2, maintains top position

Panaji, Sep 29 (UNI) Riding on a fine brace by Nigerian Edeh Chidi, table toppers Dempo Sports Club today trounced Velsao Pale Sports Club 4-2 and maintained their position at the top in the Professional Football League champions match, being played at Duler ground Mapusa in north Goa.

Other two goals for Dempo came from Roberto Mendes d'Silva (Beto) and Peter Carvalho, while for Velsao Pale, Samson Ferandes and Cajetan were the scorers.

In other matches,Raia Sporting held Salgaocar Sports Club to a goaless draw and split points at Tilak ground Vasco da Gama.

Sporting Club de Goa outplayed Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) 4-0 at Nehru Stadium, Fatorda and gained full points.

Bonifece Ambani two and Bibibn Ferandes and Eze Isiocha scored one each for Sporting Club de Goa.

With this win, Dempo are leading the table with 22 points. They are followed by Sporting Club de Goa and Salgaocar Sports Club (both tied with 20 points each, but on better goal difference, Sporting moved to the second spot). Velsao Pale 6 points, MPT 5 points and Raia Sporting with 2 remained on static.
