Dempo looking to capitalise on home advatage against Mohammedan
Duler, Goa, Jan 11 (UNI) Durand Cup Champions Dempo, who suffered a defeat against Mahindra United in the lung opener, would be hoping to capitalise on home advantage when they lock horns against spirited Mohammedan Sporting in the 11th edition of National Football league match at Mapusa in North Goa.
Both the teams have well-balance squad and Dempo will be going all out to open their account while Mohammedan will be looking to maintain its lead.
The home team boasts of one of the India's best midfield with playmaker Brazilian Robert Mendes da Silva (Beto), Climax Lawrence, Jerry Zirsanga, and Clifford Miranda give Dempo stability in the middle.
Coach Arman do Colaco said, ''my team is fully fit and no injuries, the boys know that match is crucial for us as we have no points to account.'' ''Mohammedan are a good side and had won agaist strog JCT in the inaugural match,'' he added.
If Dempo players play to their potential and forwards combine well and the defence comprising Majek Bolaji, Domnic Noronha, John Dias and Valerian Rebello keep a pace with the midfielders they can upset any strong team in the championship.
On the other hand, Mohammedan Sporting were in the buoyant mood, having emerged victorious against formidable JCT in the opening tie in Delhi. ''Dempo are a very good and well organised team. Playing on the home ground is an addtional advantage for Dempo,'' Coach Subhas Bhowmick said.
