Delhi upset Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra lose to Services

Guwahati, Feb 10 (UNI) Delhi made a winning start to their campaign in men's hockey of the 33rd National Games defeating Tamil Nadu 2-0 here today.

Devoid of top stars, the Tamil Nadu team made a number of forays into the rival citadel but could not breach the strong defence of Delhi.

In the other matches of the day, Services Sports Control Board managed to scrape past Maharashtra 2-1 in a well contested encounter.

Maharashtra had themselves to blame for the defeat, failing to capitilize on some easy chances as the Services team had to pass through some nerve wrecking final moments to hold on to the lead.
