Delhi Golf Club confirmed as venue for inaugural Indian Masters

Dubai, July 15 (UNI) The historic Delhi Golf Club, set amidst the splendour of the Lodhi Dynasty tombs, will play host to the inaugural European Tour's Indian Masters in February next year, organisers and promoters of the mega event have announced today.

A 'golf in DUBAI' delegation, headed by its Vice-Chairman and CEO Mohamed Juma Buamaim, held detailed discussions with senior Indian golf officials in the Indian capital before deciding on Delhi Golf Club.

The Indian Masters, boasting a prize-fund of 2.5 million dollars, will be the richest golf event ever to be held in India.

''We are delighted to announce Delhi Golf Club as the venue of the forthcoming Indian Masters to be held from February 7 to 10,'' Buamaim said.

About why he chose DGC over the other golf courses, he stated in a release, ''We couldn't have asked for a better venue than the DGC which stands in perfect harmony with the old and the new, like the historic city itself.

The Indian Masters will be a great advertisement for Indian golf and the country's burgeoning economy,'' said the senior official.

The management of the Delhi Golf Club was equally pleased to be hosting the Indian Masters and Ranji Chaudhri, Captain of the Club stated says ''The tournament is the biggest thing that has happened to Indian golf and we will spare no effort in making the event a huge success.'' UNI
