Delhi girls prove too good for Jharkhand opponents
Jaipur, Jan 10: Delhi girls proved too good for Jharkhand opponents as they thrashed them 63-16 in the 23rd Youth National Basketball Championship at the SMS Indoor hall here today.
Earlier, defending champions Chhattisgarh played like a champion as they too prevailed over Haryana 75-36 in girls group A after leading 40-22 at the interval.
In group B tie, Delhi went on attacking right from the word go and led 36-5 at the breather. Combining well, Pritam Singh and Sonika scored 15 and 14 points for Delhi while Diksha and Rekha each made four points for the losers.
M Deepa was the star performer for Chhattisgarh scoring 20 points followed by Manisha with 13 and Nikita with 11. Indu (13) and Mamta (8) were the main scorers for Haryana.
Meanwhile, host Rajasthan displayed a much better game today as they routed Himachal Pradesh 121-31 after leading 72-16 at the half time in a one sided match. The group B tie saw Govind and K Khan each scoring 18 points and Hirendra Singh accounting 12 points for Rajasthan while Pratap made 10 points for Himachal Pradesh.
