Debutant Del Potro puts Argentina through

LINZ, Austria, Feb 11 (Reuters) Argentina reached the Davis Cup quarter-finals today when debutant Juan Martin Del Potro beat Jurgen Melzer in five sets to give the 2006 runners-up an unassailable 3-1 lead against Austria.

The Argentine teenager, standing in for the unwell Jose Acasuso for his first match in the competition, won 7-6 3-6 6-4 4-6 6-2 to clinch the first-round tie in Linz send his country into a last-eight meeting with Sweden in April.
