Dasmunshi inaugurates Indo-Bangla games
Kolkata, Feb 24 (UNI) Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shri Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi inaugurated the Indo-Bangladesh Bangla Games here today.
The event organised by the Bengal Olympic Association in Association with Bangladesh Olympic Association.
Mr Dasmunshi said he had deep longing for Bangladesh and such an even would definitely enhance the friendship between the two nations.
He used the term, ''Padma Ganga Meghana, Nobeler Gharana'' to define the magnanimity of the two countries in terms of social, cultural and educatiopnal status.
A strong contingent of 228 sportspersons from Bangladesh is participating in events like football, volleyball, Kabaddi, Kho kho, swimming, shooting and athletics.
The West Bengal contingent comprises 347 persons, including 185 players and 162 technical officials.
As a part of inaugural programme, the Asash Ganga SKY Diving Team of Indian Air Force performed in a thrilling way. The cultural events followed too.
State Minister of Sports, Youth services and Transport Subhas Chakraborty and several heavyweights of the Association and Indian Olympic Association were present on the occasion.
