Czech Mazoch in coma after bad fall
WARSAW, Jan 22 (Reuters) - Doctors will decide today whether to wake Czech ski jumper Jan Mazoch from an artificially induced coma after he crashed during a World Cup event in southern Poland.
Mazoch was knocked unconscious when he lost control in the air and landed awkwardly, banging his head on the ground, in the second round of competition on Saturday.
Doctors put him into an artificial coma to limit the damage to his brain.
They planned to wake him if tests on Monday turned out favourably, PAP news agency reported.
Ski jumping officials suspended the World Cup event on Sunday due to strong winds in Zakopane, southern Poland.
Mazoch, 21, was in 15th place after Saturday's first round.
