Commonwealth Games to cost around Rs 3,566 crore

New Delhi, May 9 (UNI) The expenditure for the 2010 Commonwealth Games will be around Rs 3,566 crore, including Rs 1,000 crore for development of Sports infrastructure by the Sports Authority of India.

Besides, the Government and the Planning Commission will also be providing grant for projects-related to city infrastructure and Delhi Metro, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mani Shankar Aiyar said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.

The current estimates indicate an expenditure of about Rs 300 crore for developing skills and performance level of individual sportsperson.

The Funds have not been projected sports wise but they would be spent on 17 disciplines included in the Games.

The Minister said the funds will be spent on specialised training, international exposure, sports equipment, scientific backup and support and dietary supplements.
