CM congratulates Bindra for winning gold medal in Olympics

Hyderabad, Aug 11 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today congratulated Abhinav Bindra for winning a gold in the men's 10-metre Air Rifle Shooting event in the Olympic Games in Beijing.

In a message, Reddy, who is touring the flood-affected areas in the state, said it is a proud moment for the country and the whole nation is thrilled.

He expressed the hope that the Indian contingent would win a few more medals in the Olympics.

''Well done. Hearty congratulations. The nation is proud of you.

You deserve all kudos for becoming the first sportsperson from India to win an individual Olympic gold. Let many more laurels come your way. I convey the greetings of the government and the people of Andhra Pradesh for your great achievement. Keep it up. We join the nation to rejoice the moment,'' he said in the statement.
