CLTA announces cash incentives to medal winners in National Games
Chandigarh, Feb 7 (UNI) The Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association has offered big cash incentives to its three-member team which will represent Chandigarh in the 33rd National Games at Guwahati from February 9 to 18.
CLTA chairman Rajan Kashyap said that if the Chandigarh team won the team championship, the members of the victorious squad would be given Rs 50,000. If the Chandigarh tennis team finishes runners-up the members will get cash award of Rs 30,000.
In the individual open competitions, Rajan Kashyap said that the gold medallist of CLTA would be richer by Rs 40,000 and silver medal position holder would receive Rs 20,000.
The CLTA has fully taken care of the travel plan of the players.
The team will travel by air to and fro Delhi to Guwahati.
Giving composition of the team, Rajan Kashyap said that Tushar Sharma will be playing captain of the Chandigarh tennis team.
Internationals Vijayant Malik, a product of CLTA Rural Scheme, and upcoming Mandeep Singh Gill are the other members of the Chandigarh team.
Playing captain Tushar Sharma was confident that the Chandigarh players would give their best performance in Guwahati.
''Finalist in the recently concluded ITF Junior Tennis (Grade 3) Vijayant Malik and another trainee of CLTA and recent winner of the AITA U-18 Talent Series and Administrator's Open U-18 singles title Mandeep Singh Gill, are working hard at the CLTA complex,'' said Tushar Sharma.
