City of palaces to host bowlers camp
Mysore, Jun 3 (UNI) The city of palaces is hosting first ever bowlers camp for the Indian bowlers which would be held at the Infosys campus on the outskirts of the city from June four.
The local organising committee sources told UNI that the stage was set to conduct five days bowlers camp in an organised manner which was stipulated by the BCCI norms.
The bowling coach Venkatesh Prasad along with trainer Gregory King were expected to arrive any time today. The regular bowling campus would begin from tomorrow morning.
The BCCI had selected 14 bowlers for the camp, ahead of selecting the team for Ireland and England tours in the coming months.
According to surces Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh were figuring in the Asian XI for the Afro Asia Cup commencing at Bangalore on June six so there was no guarantee about the duo's participation in the camp. S Sreesanth also might miss the opening phase of the camp, as he was part of the Asian XI for the Twenty20 game against South Africa on June 5.
Players selected for the camp (June four to nine): Zaheer Khan, Rudra Pratap Singh, VRV Singh, Ishant Sharma, S Sreesanth, Ajit Agrkar, Irfan Pathan, Ranadeb Bose, Munaf Patel, Anil Kumble, Ramesh Powar, Rajesh Pawar, Harbhajan Singh and Pragyan Oza.
Leg spinner Piyush Chawala and medium pacer V Yomahesh were not been included in the camp as they had left for the training of the Australian Cricket Academy.
The batsmen's camp would be held from June nine to June 12 at Bangalore.
Selected players: Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulakar, Sourav Ganguly, Wasim Jaffer, VVS Laxman, Gautham Gambir, Robin Uthappa, Virender Sehwhag, Dinesh Mongia, M S Dhoni, Dinesh Kaarthik, Rohit Sharma, Mohd Kaif, S Badrinath and Yuvaraj Singh.
All the selected players would attend a conditioning camp at NCA from June 13 to June 16.
