CISM delegation arrives for inspection

Hyderabad, Aug 22 (UNI) A high-level delegation of 19 senior military officials from the International Military Sports Council, popularly known as Counciel Internationale Du Sports Militarie (CISM), arrived here to inspect the arrangements for the fourth Military World Games scheduled to begin on October 14.

Addressing a press conference here today, CISM President Brigadier General Gianni Gola, while expressing his happiness over the preparations, said the arrangements for the mega event were in final stages.

He said this was the fourth visit of the delegation in the last one year and the main idea of the visit was to offer guidance and help to the organising committee.

He said despite the fact that 72 conflicts were going on in the world now, the response from the member countries to participate in the event was very encouraging.

The CISM President said the delegation would hold a series of meetings with the games organising committee, comprising Lt Gen Ashok Kapur, Major General Anil Chaita, Brigadier DSC Varma, Commander of Andhra Sub Area and sports directors and also with the officials of the state government, SAAP and state police.

He said the aim of organising the world games was to promote friendship and propagate peace among member countries.

Director General Operations and Administration Lt Gen R K Chapra said the preparations for the games, including a sports village in Gachibowli, various accommodation sites and venues in Golconda, Asif Nagar and Secunderabad, were in the final stage of completion.

He said preparations were almost complete at various sites in Mumbai where two important events of sailing and triathalon would be held.
