Cink sinks Jeev's challenge at WGC Match Play
Tucson, Arizona, Feb 22 (UNI) Jeev Milkha Singh crashed out of the eight million dollar WGC-Accenture Match Play after losing three and two to American Ryder Cup stalwart Stewart Cink in the opening round here.
Jeev, who was making his debut at the prestigious 64-man event, failed to maintain the tempo after making a fine start with a first-hole birdie. The seasoned Indian let things slip after the fifth hole as Cink started to build on a steady start.
The American had taken a two-shot lead at the start of the last nine holes. Jeev, who took a week off to work on his putting, failed to find the winning touch and missed several opportunites as the world number 26 American prevailed in the encounter at Gallery Golf Club.
Meanwhile, world number one Tiger Woods defeated JJ Henry three and two to set up a second round clash with South African Tim Clark.
