Churchill Brothers hold JCT in NFL

Ludhiana, Jan 17 (UNI) Punjab's star soccer outfit JCT were held to a goalless draw by Churchill Brothers, Goa in the 3rd round of the 11th National Football League (NFL) at the Guru Nanak stadium here today.

The Goan outfit did well to draw with JCT, as the Punjab team can be dangerous on their home turf. With this draw, Churchill, with one win against Sporting Clube de Goa and a draw against defending champions Mahindra United, took their points tally to five.

On the other hand, JCT now have four points, with one loss to Mohamedan Sporting and a victory against Mohun Bagan.

The Goan defence played to a plan to check the menacing JCT strikers-- Sunil Chhetri, Edih Chidi and Praveen Kumar. Churchill managed to contain the dangerous Chidi, who on a number of occasions came close to scoring.

The Churchill strike force of Nigerain Odafa Onyeka Okolie and George Ekeh did trouble the JCT defence at times but failed to find the mark.

JCT will meet Dempo Sports Club here on January 22.
