Chopra slumps to tied 64th at FBR Open
Scottsdale, Arizona, Feb 4 (UNI) Daniel Chopra came up with his worst display of the week, carding a poor three-over 74 to plunge to the tied 64th spot after the penultimate round of the six million dollar FBR Open here.
Chopra's three-round stands at two-under 211 and it would take a herculean effort from the Swede to sign off at a decent position.
Chopra could not recover from a horrific start, which saw him dropping three successive bogeys on the first three holes. The nightmare did not end their as he stumbled to a double-bogey on the fifth. He did manage a birdie on the seventh but a bogey on the very next hole meant that Chopra made the turn at five-over.
The Indian-born Swede regained some form in the back-nine to sink in consecutive birdies on the 12th and 13th but a dropped shot on the 16th once again pulled him back.
Determined to end the day on a somewhat positive note, Chopra birdied the par-four 18th hole to steer clear of further fall down the leaderboard.
At the top, local Jeff Quinney returned a three-under 68 to take a comfortable two-shot lead with a total of 16-under 197. Australian Aaron Baddeley took the the sole second spot after carding a flawless seven-under 64.
