Chopra slump to tied 36th after a high at Zurich Classic
Avondale, Louisiana, Apr 22 (UNI) Indian-born Swede Daniel Chopra squandered the advantage of a top finish by carding a forgettable three-over 75 to slump to tied 36th spot after three rounds at the the Zurich Classic here.
Tied sixth overnight, Chopra dropped three bogeys and a double bogey and two late birdies at the back nine was not enough to save the day for him. He has a total tally of three-under 213 after three rounds.
Yesterday, Arjun Atwal, who was the lone Indian in the fray, failed to make the halfway cut which fell at one under. Atwal had one of his worst days in the greens, carding a woeful ten-over 154 to end his campaign after two days of poor golf.
Atwal's life has been in turmoil since last month when he was involved in a speeding incident that claimed the life of one person.
Chopra, who was disqualified from last week's Heritage Classic at Hilton Head for taking an illegal drop in the opening round, spoilt the show for himself after surging to tied sixth spot yesterday.
Atop the leaderboard, American Nick Watney enjoyed a two-stroke lead over compatriot Ken Duke while overnight leader Mark Calcavecchia and Scott Gutschewski were a stroke further behind.
Watney aggregates twelve-under 204.
