Chiranjeev, Chetan win Mumbai leg of 'India in 96 hrs' race

Mumbai, Sep 3 (UNI) Chiranjeev Singh Chandok and Chetan Singh today won the Mumbai leg of the first ever - India in 96 hours' - a race across India, a CII Young Indians Youth Affairs endeavour.

A total of 40 students (comprising 20 teams of 2 each) from across Mumbai city participated in the race.

The race, which commenced from Bandra Reclamation, wound its way through its destination halts of Juhu PVR Cinema to a thrilling finish at Infinity Mall, Andheri.

The 2nd winner (Dhwanil Meghani and Karan Bamba), 3rd winner (Mohit Chheda and Aashik Agarwal), 4th winner (Karan Kotcha and Piyush Kejriwal) along with the winners will now participate in the Grand Finale, scheduled to begin from Delhi on October 26, which will end in Goa on October 29. All surplus funds generated from the event will be channelised into Yi Youth Affairs Rural Development Programmes, that is, to gift Inverters to rural schools across the country's rural areas.

A race with a difference, 'India in 96 hours', not only puts to test the athletic skills of the participants but also test their mental agility and sharpness whilst instilling in them values and discipline.

The race, which will be held in 10 cities, began at Chennai, and was followed by Mumbai. It will move on to Kochi, Delhi, Coimbatore, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata to culminate in the Grand Finale on the beaches of Goa.

The Mumbai leg required the participants to undertake a treasure hunt, one mental and one physical challenge. These tested their speed, skills, creativity, strategy, leadership and talents.
