Chirag crush Army XI

Kozhikode, Apr 2 (UNI) Chirag United Kolkata crushed Army XI New Delhi 3-1 in the second division of the ONGC-sponsored National Football League-2007 here today.

Cashing in on Army custodian J K Raman's mistakes, Theodore Sundy Wrobch scored the first and second goals for the Kolkata side in the 33rd and 82nd minutes.

Substitute Lalmalsawmah Hmar increased the lead to 3-0 five minutes before the breather as the Armymen failed to defend the onslaught of their opponents.

However, substitute T L Kuki reduced the margin through a long ranger, making the final tally 3-1 at injury time.

After third rounds of matches by all six participants, Viva Kerala were leading the table card with six points, followed by Salgaocar, on five Vasco, Goa and Chirag four each, Army XI and ONGC, Mumbai two points each.

The fight will be between Salgaocar and Vasco tomorrow.
