China's Liu likely to compete at 2012 Olympics - coach

BEIJING, Oct 16 (Reuters) World record holder Liu Xiang of China has no plan to retire and may compete at the 2012 London Olympics, his coach said.

Liu, 110 metres hurdles gold medallist at the Athens Olympics, will be 29 by then.

''He is in good condition. He has the potential to break the world record if weather, wind and other conditions permit,'' Liu's coach Sun Haiping was quoted as saying by China's Xinhua news agency.

After clocking 12.88 to set the world record in June 2006, Liu has gone from strength to strength, winning nine titles in his last 12 meetings, which included the world championship gold in Osaka.

The first Chinese man to win a track and field Olympic gold, Liu is China's biggest hope of home success at next year's Beijing Games.
