Chhattisgarh opens account in national weight lifting

Imphal, Nov 22 (UNI) Chhattisgarh opened account bagging a gold medal in 50 kg category as Madhusudhan lifted a total 174 kgs, 79 in snatch and 95 in clean and jerk as the 4th boys and girls national weightlifting championship began here today at the SAG hall.

Eariler state Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh inaugurated the competition.

M Itomba of Manipur got the silver medal followed by R Udhaya Kumar of Tamil Nadu.

Altogether 650 weight lifters from 28 states and institutions are participating in the championship that will continue till November 29.
