Chhattisgarh girls retains title

Jaipur, Jan 15 (UNI) Chhattisgarh outclassed Uttar Pradesh 92-64 to retain the girls title in the 23rd National Youth Basketball Championship at the SMS Indoor hall here today.

Chhattisgarh and Kerala finished third in the boys and girls section respectively.

L Deepa and Sohna were the star performer for Chhattisgarh scoring 26 points each, while Nikita contributed 12 points. Ratna Singh made 15 points for Uttar Pradesh while Renu 13 and Manju 11 were the other scorers for the losers.

Chhattisgarh outplayed hosts Rajasthan 93-103 and secured third position in the boy's section, while Kerala prevailed over Madhya Pradesh 68-50 to earn third spot in girl's section.

Pratham Singh top scored with 42 points for Chhattisgarh, while Karan and Pawan made 28 and 17 points respectively. Captain Hirendra Singh 32, Kamran 18 and Dungar Singh 17 were the main contributors for Rajasthan.

Following are the results :- Girls final- Chhattisgarh 92 (L Deepa 26, Sohna 26, Nikita 12) bt Uttar Pradesh 64 (Ratna Singh 15, Renu 13, Manju 11).

Boys hard line- Chhattisgarh 103 (Pratham 42, Karan 28, Pawan 17) bt Rajasthan 93 (Hirendra 32, Kamran 18, Dungar 17, Lokesh 8).

Girls hard line- Kerala 68 (Stephy 11, Smridi 17, Ramadeep 8) bt Madhya Pradesh 50 (Kriti 20, Ramadeep 8, Bhagyashri 7).
