Chess Assn threatens action against G N Gopal

Kozhikode, Sep 15 (UNI) The Chess Association of Kerala (CAK) today threatened to initiate stringent disciplinary action against International Grand Master-designate G N Gopal for making derogatory statements against its office bearers.

Talking to newspersons here, CAK General Secretary P Venugopalan said that as decided by the Association's executive meeting here yesterday, Gopal had been issued a show-cause notice for his statement made at a press meet in Aluva on September two.

A decision on the kind of action would be taken on receipt of his reply, he said.

In his statement after completing the IGM norm in Dhaka recently, Gopal had alleged that the CAK had become a ''pocket-borough'' of certain individuals, who did nothing for the development of the game.
