Chappell willing to offer ''private'' advice to Lawson
Sydney, Aug 13 (UNI) Former India coach Greg Chappell has said he would be happy to offer ''private'' advice to new Pakistan coach Geoff Lawson about the highs and lows of coaching in the sub-continent.
Lawson has said after he was appointed Pakistan coach that the former Aussie batting legend will be ''on his list to call.'' ''I haven't heard from him as yet but I'd be happy to have a chat if he wants to do that,'' Chappell said.
''But I'm not going to go about that publicly; I'll talk to him myself. It will be a personal and private conversation,'' Chappell was quoted as saying in an Australian website Sportal.com.
Chappell endured a tough time as coach of India, stepping down in April after a disastrous World Cup campaign in the Caribbean amid controversy over his coaching methods.
He also had a very public fall-out with former skipper Sourav Ganguly and was the subject of hate attacks by irate fans.
Asked if he considered Lawson a good choice as Pakistan coach, a guarded Chappell replied: ''I'm not making any comments about anything because it will only go to the sub-continent and be bouncing around there.'' Lawson also refused to comment on a possible meeting with Chappell and has taken a low profile since being handed what many consider to be cricket's poisoned chalice.
