Chandigarh and Mohali win in Markan Trophy
Chandigarh, May 16 (UNI) Chandigarh and Mohali registered victories in the Punjab Inter-District Cricket Tournament for M L Markan Trophy being played in Mohali today. Chandigarh prevailed over Bathinda by virture of their first innings lead of 155 runs while Mohali defeated Ropar by two wickets.
Resuming at their overnight score of 13 for one, Bathinda could muster 138 before being all out in 72.4 overs. This was in reply to Chandigarh's first innings total of 293 all out in 87 overs.
Rahul Chara (4 for 41) and Anshul Tripathi (2 for 44) restricted the Bathinda total with their accurate bowling. Rahul Jaitly (32), Vikash Lamba (31) and Arjun Wadhawan (26) were the main scorers for Bathinda.
Arshdeep Brar scored a strokeful century (118) as Mohali defeated Ropar by two wickets.
In reply to Ropar's first innings score of 300 all out in 95 overs, Mohali made 303 for 8 in 89.1 overs. Nitin and Parteek also excelled in batting by scoring 40 and 44.respectively. Rahul and Mohit Bedi remained not out on 24 and 18 respectively. Krishan (5 for 123) and Nitish (3 for 83) were the main wicket takers for Ropar.
Earlier, Ropar made 300 all out in 95 overs. Karan was unlucky to miss the century by just five runs. Amandeep and Krishan made 65 and 62 respectively.

Mohali (1st Innings) : 303 for 8 in 89.1 overs (Nitin 40, Harpreet Sidhu 19, Arshdeep Brar 118, Parteek 44, Rahul 24 not out and Mohit Bedi 18 not out, Krishan 5 for 123 and Nitish 3 for 83).
Chandigarh scored 77 in 11.4 overs. Jatin Kumar got three wickets for 47 runs.
