Cabinet nod for sports hostel for World Military Games

Hyderabad, Apr 27 (UNI) Gearing up for the World Military Games in October this year, Andhra Pradesh Cabinet today approved construction of a 15-storey sports hostel at a cost of Rs 72 crore.

The state government would provide accommodation to 2000 of the 6000 athletes who would take part in the Games from October 14 to 21, Information Minister A Ramanarayana Reddy told reporters here.

The Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) availed a loan of Rs 48 crore for the construction of the hostel. Nine floors would be ready by August, he said, adding SAAP would utilise three floors for accommodating its trainees in sports academies.

SAAP was in touch with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) for setting up State Training Centre and meeting part of the expenditure on construction of sports hostel buidling, he added.
