Brijlal bags honours

Kannur, Dec 24 (UNI) Brijlal Das of Bilaspur has been adjudged the the fastest knockout fighter at the All India Karate Knock Down Open Tournament which concluded at Payyanur.

P Rangasamy and K R Raghu from Bangalore won the first and second places in the heavyweight category. The best fighter award went in favour of N Saleem of Kerala.

About 200 fighters from nine states of the country took part in the tournament.

For the first time in India an open tournament comprising various martial arts like Kung-Fu, Taekwondo, Kick Boxing, Kalaripayattu and Karate, following common rules, was organised.

The winners will be selected for the open tournament to be held in the UAE in April, Japan in August, Australia in October next year.
