BPCL sink Indian Navy to win title

Chennai, Apr 1 (UNI) Fancied Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), Kochi, annexed the title with a 3-1 win over Indian Navy, Delhi, in the final of the first SRM-All India Invitation Volleyball tournament for men here today.

In a one-sided contest, the oilmen, got off to a great start.

They dropped the second set but regrouped themselves to win 25-20, 22-25, 25-21, 25-20 and bag the winner's purse of Rs 40,000 and the glittering SRM trophy. Navy had to return home with the runner-up purse of Rs 30,000 and a trophy.

Earlier, in the play-off match for the third and fourth places, Cochin Port Trust derailed Southern Railway 25-27, 25-21, 14-25, 26-24, 15-10 and bagged the purse of Rs 20,000 for third place.

The Railmen took home a purse of Rs 10,000.
