Bopanna sets up date with Qureshi in last eight
London, July 26 (UNI) For the second consecutive day Rohan Bopanna hardly broke a sweat, registering another straight set victory in the second round of the singles competition here, thus setting up a mouth-watering quarter-final clash against top seed Aisam-ul Haq Qureshi of Pakistan at the 21,000 euro ATP Nottingham Challenger grass court event.
Fresh from his exploits in Manchester, where he reached the semi-finals in singles and won the title in doubles, the sixth seed Indian looked in absolute command as he thrashed unseeded German Lans Burgsmuller 6-3, 6-2.
Meanwhile, his doubles partner Qureshi also registered an easy victory against Frenchman Thomas Oger 7-5, 6-2.
With both Bopanna and Qureshi's victory, a mouth-watering high presuure encounter is in the offing as the neighbours ultimately takes on each other in the next round, after an earlier showdown in Manchester was denied following their defeats.
However, in the doubles, the third seeded pair of Bopanna and Qureshi will take on the French duo of Oliver Charroin and Thomas Oger in the last eight.
The Indo-Pak had earlier won the Manchester Challenger last week.
