Baylor Scheierman Scores Career-High 20 Points In Celtics' Win Against Nets
Boston Celtics rookie Baylor Scheierman seized his opportunity in the team's 104-96 win over the Brooklyn Nets. In just his 19th NBA game, Scheierman scored a career-high 20 points, thrilling both players and fans. Coach Joe Mazzulla praised not only his scoring but also his defensive effort and offensive rebounding, especially with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown resting.
During the game, Scheierman made a significant impact at the end of the third quarter. He hit a three-point buzzer-beater that gave the Celtics a 71-70 lead. In the fourth quarter, he continued to shine by making three more of his career-best six three-pointers, contributing 13 points to his total score.

"It's pretty special. When I hit that buzzer-beater and the crowd was going crazy, that was probably a top three environment that I've ever been a part of," said Scheierman. Having spent much of the NBA season with Maine in the development league, he relished playing freely and enjoying the moment when everything seemed to slow down.
Coach Mazzulla expressed confidence in Scheierman's abilities despite Tatum and Brown returning to action. "He's got high-level toughness to him. He's got a good basketball IQ," Mazzulla noted. The coach emphasized consistency and patience as key attributes for success, advising against discouragement from short-term setbacks.
Mazzulla's support indicates that Scheierman could be called upon again if needed. "To me, it's just the consistency and the patience. You can't get discouraged. You're not defined by one day, two days," he stated. The coach believes in taking advantage of small moments as part of a larger process.
Scheierman's performance has shown promise for future opportunities with the team. His ability to step up when required demonstrates potential for growth within the Celtics lineup.
