Bathinda defeats formidable Patiala
Patiala, May 19 (UNI) Underdog Bathinda defeated formidable Patiala on the basis of first innings lead in the semi-final match of the, Punjab Inter-District cricket (Under-17), M L Markan Trophy here today at the Dhruve Pandove Cricket Stadium.
After Patiala were bowled out for 163 in 72.4 overs yesterday, Bathinda went on to surpass the Patiala total scoring 179 in 80.5 overs to take a crucial 34 runs lead.
Raj Kamal scored 29 in 55 balls, Jashandeep Singh hit 22 in 59 balls, though it was Saurab Sabberwal who took Bathinda to victory by playing a responsible innings of 40 in 139 balls. His partner Amarinder was 22 not out when the Bathinda innings came to an end.
For Patiala, Amarinder Singh bagged 4 for 45, while Mohit Mohindra and Robin Dhillon captured 2 wickets each, conceding 59 and 32 runs respectively.
After Bathinda had taken the lead, only academic interest was left in the match. Patiala scored 94 for 3 in 13 overs in the second innings. Preetkamal scored 37 and Jeevanjot was 28 not out.
In reply, Bathinda scored 43 for 4 in 17 overs at close of play.
