Barcelona ready to buy Arsenal's Fabregas, but won't go broke over bid

Barcelona (Spain), Aug.10 (ANI): Barcelona is lining up a mega bid for Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas, but the team management has said that it will not go broke in trying to meet the Gunner's demands.

According to The Sun, the European champions have already missed out on Liverpool's Javier Mascherano and are now keen to have the services of Spanish midfielder Fabregas.

Fabregas left Nou Camp for the Gunners when he was 16, and has since admitted he would like to return to Barcelona.

The Telegraph quoted Barca's sporting director Txiki Begiristain, as saying: "It depends on how much we want to spend. If we spend a lot of money, it is possible. We do not know how much it will be yet. We have not asked Arsenal. If the amount is too high, we will not try."

Begiristain does not intend to spend for spending's sake.

"We find it difficult to improve what we have and that is the reality. Improving a team that has won a treble is difficult, and trying to improve dramatically can get you into trouble. Any new player must be compatible with the plans of the coach. Here the views of Pep Guardiola are critical," he said. (ANI)
