Bangladesh's two-week long hunt for 'macher jhol' finally ends

Bridgetown, Barbados, Apr 15 (UNI) The two-week-long Indian food hunt by the Bangladesh cricket team which started with their departure from Trinidad and Tobago has finally ended on the pavement of downtown here.

Interestingly, the search ended when accidentally a Bangladeshi journalist travelling with the team stumbled upon the ''Indian Grill'', a restaurant specialising in Indian delicacies on the pavement of the Bay street here, thus bringing back life to the Tigers prior to their encounter against Irelend today.

''The Bangladesh team is regular. They are having lunch almost every day. As we shut down by 1600 hours so they can not come for dinner. Now from next week we are opening for evening also,'' said the owner of Indian grill.

All the food in the Trinidad and Tobago national's restaurant are are corrupt version Indian and Bajan food, but for the hungry Tigers, that is much better than what the seven star Barbados Hilton has to offer them.

Meanwhile, the enthusiastic owner who never expected windfall for the Cup is promising to cook some ''dal'' looking at the influx of Indian guests next weekn saying, ''I have found there are many Indian looking for food and here is some opportunity to do some business.'' But the only problem which he faces is that he does not have a variety of Indian curry masala left with him and moreover, there is very little time left for him to order now.

Bangladesh's fooding problems arouse after they surprisingly graduated to the Super Eights upsetting India and started traveling to Guyana, Antigua and Barbados, where they were desperately trying to locate ''macher jhol'' (fish curry), their staple diet along with rice.

However, their three-day stay in Guyana was not bad but compared to Antigua and Barbados.

Barbabdos, the most anglicised of all the islands, is the worst in term of Indian food as there are only two Indian restaurants in the whole islands, which are situated at far off places.

Further the only river of the island, Constitution river is little narrower than any of the municipal drain of any Indian metro city, unlike Guyana where there is mighty Esquiboo and Mazruoni river.
