Bagan sent three past Railways
Kolkata, Aug 11 (UNI) Mohun Bagan's goal machine Jose Barretto continued his vintage form scoring a brace in his team's 3-0 rout of Eastern Railways in Calcutta Premier League here today.
This is Bagan's third consecutive win in the Premier League that takes them to the top of the table with 10 points from four matches.
Following their seven-goal annihilation of Port Trust, Bagan began in the same tempo. Striker Jose Ramirez Barreto scored the opening goal for Bagan in the 5th minute of the match. Medio Rauf Khan sent a left-footed inswinging floater to Barreto who made no mistake to head the ball in.
Attacking medio S Venkatesh doubled the lead in the 25th minute.
Bagan skipper Dharamjit Singh sent a floater towards Barreto who backheaded the ball to Venkatesh, who then, displayed excellent skill in trapping the ball with his right foot and thundering in a brilliant left footer.
Six minutes later, Barreto once again struck for Bagan. On this occasion, it was striker Lalampuian who passed the ball towards Venkatesh with the latter playing a dummy and leaving Barreto to finish the job. The Brazilian placed the ball perfectly with a right footer that beat Railway keeper Tapan Karmakar all ends up and secured Bagan's third goal and Barreto's fifth goal of the league.
He now equalises East Bengal and compatriot Edmilson Marques's tally of five goals in this edition's Premier League.
Incidentally, this goal from Barreto is the 50th goal of this year's Premier League.
