Bad weather returns to haunt National Games

Guwahati, Feb 12 (UNI) After three days of sunshine, bad weather returned to haunt the 33rd National Games as Guwahati and its surrounding areas received light rain today.

The met office predicted similar weather -- light rain and temperature around 20 degree Celsius -- for the next five days, which has sent the Games organisers into a tizzy.

The sunny weather from the opening day onwards had lifted the spirit of the athletes and organisers but overcast conditions returned last night and weather remained gloomy today.

If the rain persists, it could spoil the enthusiastic mood of thousands of spectators who have lined up for nearly a kilometer to enter into the stadium.

Meanwhile, Asom Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has instructed the organisers to remain prepared for any eventuality.
