Ayush, Adish, Yash, Anagha, Kanishka, Liyaan win titles

Pune, Mar 1 (UNI) Ayush Prabhune, Adish Rao, Abhishek Bendrey, Yash Mokashi, Anagha Kamble, Kanishka Chawla, Liyaan Akalkotkar, Shrwari Sawant won the titles in their respective age groups in the 14th RCBC Open junior Tennis championships at the club tennis courts here.

The tourney is co-sponsored by Bank of Maharashtra and M/s Babolat.

In the Under-8 Boys event, Ayush Prabhune of PCMC put out Aryan Rai of PYC 7-3, while in Girls event Anagha Kamble of RCBC beat Shrusti Dass 7-3 to win the title, supported by Pizza Hut, Natekar Sports.

In the Boys Under-10 event, Adish Rao of PYC scraped Gavin Francis of Sunny Jacob Tennis Academy 9-5; while in the Girls category, Kanishka Chawla of Mandar Wakankar Tennis Academy put out SJTA's Ahilya Bhandarkar's challenge 9-3.

In a clash between Hill Side Gymkhana players in the Boys Under-12 Abhishek Bendrey put out Shubham Pardeshi 10-7, while in the Girls category, Liyaan Akalkotkar of Poona Club out hit Priti Bhandurge of PYC 10-2.

In the Boys Under-14 Yash Mokashi of PYC scored easy victory over Harshawardhan Baxi of RCBC 6-1, 6-0, while in the Girls event, Shrwari Sawant of SUGO got better of PCMC's Nikita Prabhune 7-5, 6-3.

The prizes were given at the hands of Mr Gaurav Natekar, former Davis Cup Player and Nina Bhide, Acting President of RCBC. Hon Secretary of the RCBC Mr Ajay Gujarathi welcomed the guests while Sports Secretary (Out Door Sports) of RCBC Mr Sammy Khambatta gave introductory speech. Mr Sunder Iyer, Tournament coordinator proposed the vote of thanks.
