Autocross for four wheelers to be held on August 5

Mumbai, Aug 1 (UNI) Gautam Singhania, Narendra Pai, Rakim Velkar, Shirish Kamalapurkar, Farokh Commissariat, Ashish Doshi, Neville Poonawalla and Sam Katgara Balu Bafna will be amomg those who will be seen in action in an Autocross event for four wheelers on August 5 at Thane, near here.

Sportscraft, who first brought the concept of Autocross to Mumbai in 1988, will organise this event under the aegis of Federation of Motorsport Clubs of India, a release issued here today stated.

The Autocross is an event, which tests the capabilities of both man and machine. It involves skillful driving at high speeds on a specially chalked out obstacle laden, zig-zag course, and each participant is timed to a 100th of a second. A 'touch' to any of the obstacles, along the course, entails a penalty of 10 seconds, which will be deducted from the time registered by the participant during his routine exercise.

The event will run in five various categories depending on the vehicle's cubic capacity, the release added.
