Australia post India a daunting target of 318 for win

Nagpur, Oct 14 (UNI) Australia posted a massive score of 317 for eight wickets in their alloted 50 overs against India in the sixth one-dayer being played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association ground here today.

Electing to bat first Australia rode on a brilliant century by Andrew Symonds (107 not out) and a half century by Adam Gilchrist (51) to take them to the total of 317 for eight wickets in their 50 overs.

For India Murali Kartik was the most economical bowler with one wicket for 37 runs in his nine overs, while Harbhajan though being a bit expensive bowled beautifully in the middle overs to stop the Aussies from running away with the match.

India who are 1-3 down in this series, need to win this match to have any hopes of atleast squaring the series with the final match scheduled to be held in Mumbai on October 17.

Earlier in the morning both India and Australia made one change from the teams that played at Vadodara with the hosts bringing in pace bowler S Sreesanth for R P Singh, while Australia had to drop Matthew Hayden after he failed a fitness test this morning for his hip injury and his place was taken by Brad Haddin.
