Australia name 13-member squad for INAS-FID Tri Nation Series
Sydney, May 22 (UNI) A 13-member squad will represent Australia in the second INAS-FID tri nation series for intellectual disabled cricketers, to be played in England from May 6.
Apart from Australia, the other two teams include South Africa and host England, a Cricket Australia release stated.
The series commences with Australia, who dominated the inaugural tri nations series held in South Africa in November 2005, playing England at the Hampshire Rosebowl on June 6 and concludes on June 15.
''Australia leads the World in inclusive sporting opportunities for people with a disability, with all our players participating in regular competition and the reason for our strong showing in South Africa in 2005,'' said Robyn Smith, CEO of AUSRAPID, the Australian Sports and Recreation Association for Persons with Integration Difficulties, which is working very closely with CA to develop and expand mainstream cricketing opportunities for players with disability.
''Cricket Australia is committed to the inclusion of people with a disability into cricket at all levels and this is highlighted by their support of the team and philosophy of providing cricket for all Australians,'' he added.
