Atwal tied 26th at Travelers Championship
Cromwell, Connecticut, June 22 (UNI) Arjun Atwal carded a decent two-under 70 to share 28th spot with, among others, former World No one Vijay Singh of Fiji in a rain-suspended opening round at Travelers Championship here.
Atwal was six strokes off the leader, Hunter Mahan of United States who shot a brilliant eight-under 62 but missed the course record by just one shot.
The Indian golfer, who's playing on conditional exempt, opened his account with a birdie on the second hole. He evened it out with a bogey on the ninth to make the turn at level-par. He fired two birdies on the first two hole on his back nine and hung on to it to end the day at under.
Indian-born Swede Daniel Chopra mixed three birdies with two bogeys for his 71 that placed him at tied 41st spot.
