Atwal steers ahead at Chattanooga Classic

Chattanooga, US, Oct 19 (UNI) Indian golfer Arjun Atwal posted the lowest score of the day at the Chattanooga Classic with a five-under-par 66 to move three strokes ahead of American Webb Simpson.

The 2008 Maybank Malaysian Open champion, with a 54-hole total of 24-under-par 192 total is also the tournament record and he now holds the record having the most strokes under par through three rounds on the Nationwide Tour this year.

Atwal made four birdies in the first six holes (first, fourth, fifth and sixth) before dropping his first bogey of the tournament on the 12th hole.

The Florida-based golfer then consolidated his position as the front-runner for the title by firing three more birdies on the 14th, 17th and 18th.

Meanwhile at the Portugal Masters (European Tour), India's Jyoti Randhawa was even-par for the day and he is currently in tied 17th place after play was suspended due to thunderstorms.
