Atwal misses top-10 by a whisker, finishes tied 18th

Glenview, Illinois, June 4 (UNI) Even a string of five birdies and a decent score of four-under 68 was not enough for Arjun Atwal to book a place at the top ten, as he finished tied 18th on the last day of the Nationwide Tour's LaSalle Bank Open.

Atwal, tied 26th overnight, had a blemish-free front nine studded with two birdies in the third and fifth hole before continuing his good form in the back-nine firing three successive birdies in the 12th, 13th, and 14th hole but a bogey in the 16th hole saw him finish at an aggregate of 11-under 271.

Atop the leaderboard was John Riegger, who totalled 17-under 271 with the help of a brilliant four-under 68 in the final round. BJ Staten held the second spot with an agrregate of 16-under 272.
