Atwal makes cut but slips to tied 20th
Wichita, Kansas, Aug 4 (UNI) Arjun Atwal advanced to the weekend action after returning a three-under 68 in the second round even though he dropped six places to tied 20th at the Nationwide Tour's 500,000 dollar Wichita Open golf tournament here.
Atwal, who needs to make it into the top-25 at Tour's money list for a full US PGA Tour card, mixed six birdies with three bogeys to total eight-under 134, five strokes behind the joint leaders, Brad Elder of the United States and Bradley Hughes of Australia who shot sensational 64 and 62 respectively to move atop the table.
Overnight tied 14th, Atwal started well hitting consecutive birdies on the fourth and fifth and seventh and eighth with a bogey in between to turn at three-under.
The 2003 Asian No 1 started the back nine with a bogey, nullified it by picking up a shot on the 14th, again dropped a stroke on the 16th only to sign off with a birdie.
