Asian Athletics Championship 2025: India end impressive campaign with 24 Medals
India wrapped up their campaign at the 26th Asian Athletics Championships in Gumi, South Korea, finishing second overall with a total of 24 medals - 8 gold, 10 silver, and 6 bronze.
China topped the medal tally with 26 medals (15 gold, 8 silver, 3 bronze), while Japan finished third with 24 medals including 4 gold.

Sachin Yadav Shines in Javelin Throw
Sachin Yadav impressed on his international debut by throwing a personal and season best of 85.16m to win silver in the men's javelin event. He finished behind Pakistan’s Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem, who registered 86.40m.
Yadav narrowly missed the automatic qualification mark (85.50m) for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo (Sept 13–21), but said it was a valuable learning experience:
“I missed key training due to an ankle and shoulder niggle. I’ll bounce back and aim to qualify for Worlds in my next outing.”
Earlier this year, he had claimed gold at the Uttarakhand National Games with a throw of 84.39m.
Animesh Kujur Sets National Record
In the men's 200m, Animesh Kujur clinched bronze with a time of 20.32 seconds, breaking his own national record of 20.40s. A false start didn’t affect his rhythm as he powered through the curve:
“The start wasn’t ideal, but my curve running helped me earn the medal.”

The women’s 4x100m relay team comprising Srabani Nanda, SS Sneha, Abhinaya Rajarajan, and Nithya Gandhe secured silver with a time of 43.86s. China won gold while Thailand took bronze.
