Ashwin Sundar of Team Rams Racing grabs four pole positions

Chennai, Aug 11 (UNI) Rayomand Banajee and Ashwin Sundar shared honours on day one of the JK Tyre National Racing Championship as the qualifying races got off to a brisk start today at Madras Motor Race Track at Irungattukottai near here.

Pune racer Rayomand Banajee from Team Prime Racing had a good day at the qualifying as he capture the pole position for both races in the premium category Formula Rolon Chevrolet.

He achieved the fastest lap timings of 01:48:269 and 01:49:175 for race one and race two respectively.

Rayomand's teammate Gaurav Dalal took the the second slot while Aditya Patel of Team NK Racing will start from third place in race one.

Race two will see Sarosh Hataria of Team Prime Racing start in second place and teammate Gaurav Dalal in third place.

Championship leader Ashwin Sunder of Team Rams Racing was in full cry as he annexed pole positions for both the races in the Formula LGB Hyundai class with the fastest lap timings -- 01:57:073 in race one and 01:57:470 in race two. Narain Shankar of Team Rams Racing will start from second place and Karthik Shankar of Team WSRF with Leela will start from third place in both races.

In Formula Swift, it was again Aswhin Sundar from Team Rams Racing in command as he as went on to grab double pole positions with timings of 01:54:893 and 01:55:888 for race one and race one respectively.

Saran Vikram of Team WSRF with Leela will start from second place in both races. Karthik Shankar of Team WSRF and Leela and Rayomand Banajee of Team will start from third place in race one and race two respectively.

The main races will commence at 1000 hrs tomorrow.
