Ashish, Meenakshi win gold in gymanstics all round event

Guwahati, Feb 13 (UNI) Ashish Kumar of Uttar Pradesh and P Meenakshi of Punjab emerged top man and woman gymnasts, winning the individual all round competitions in the National Games here today.

Ashish claimed the gold with a total of 165 points, ahead of statemate Mayank Srivastava who scored 162.75 points. Services' Shinoj Mulyil bagged the bronze with 159.9.

Meenakshi (104.3) beat West Bengal's Priti Das (102.60) for the gold while Aom's Tumpa Debnath (101.40) claimed the bronze.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh and Bengal emerged champions in men's and women's team events.

Services and Madhya Pradesh took silver and bronze respectively in the men's team event while Punjab and Maharashtra did the same among women.
