Arsenal beat Wigan in late show as United lose

LONDON, Nov 24 (Reuters) Late goals from William Gallas and Tomas Rosicky gave Premier League leaders Arsenal a 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic today but champions Manchester United slipped to a shock 1-0 defeat at lowly Bolton Wanderers.

Steven Gerrard inspired Liverpool to a 3-0 victory at Newcastle United while Manchester City stayed third with a 2-1 victory over Reading to maintain their 100 percent home record.

Everton thrashed Sunderland 7-1 at Goodison Park while Middlesbrough suffered a 3-0 home defeat by Aston Villa.

Second bottom Wigan held on doggedly for 83 minutes at the Emirates Stadium before Gallas headed in a Bacary Sagna cross and then Rosicky added a little gloss.

Arsenal now have a three-point lead and a game in hand over United, who fell behind early to a Nicolas Anelka goal and could find no way through.

In the early kickoff, Gerrard fired Liverpool ahead with an unstoppable shot, while Dirk Kuyt and Ryan Babel were on target after the break.
