Army XI hold Vasco

Kozhikode, Apr 7 (UNI) Army XI, New Delhi held formidable Vasco, Goa to a 1-1 draw in their last match of the ONGC-sponsored second division National Football League here today.

Vasco skipper Menino Fernandes netted their goal through a spot kick in the 43rd minute, while M G Ramachandran equalised for the Army team through a splendid goal in the 61st minute.

Salgaocar (Goa) and Viva (Kerala) with a total 11 and nine points respectively have already qualified for the first division league.

If Viva wins the match against ONGC Mumbai tomorrow, it will become champion of the second division tournament.
