Armaan wins Formula Renault V6 Grand Race by 31-second margin

Sepang, June 24 (UNI) Sweltering heat with track temperatures reaching close to 50 degrees celsius could not deter India's Armaan Ebrahim from winning the Formula Renault V6 Grand Race held at the F1 Sepang circuit in Malaysia today with a whopping 31-second margin.

Starting from the pole position today, Armaan got off the line smoothly with a perfect start and maintained the lead throughout the 20-lap race over the 5.6 km long circuit.

Amidst all the drama behind him on the track, 18-year-old Armaan finally took the chequered flag 31 seconds ahead of second placed Briton James Winslow.

Hong Kong's Marchy Lee had to retire towards the end of the race while Seth Ingram of USA had a coming together with Satrio from Indonesia. Hans Lin who started last made some good ground to move into 2nd place, but he too had to retire with some mechanical problems.

As all the drama unfolded behind him, Armaan was unperturbed and finally took the chequered flag ahead of Winslow.

The JK Tyre prodigy had a 10-metre gap going into the first corner and by lap 3, he had pulled out a four second lead over Marchy Lee. He increased the lead to 15 seconds and continued to hammer the throttle down.

He was continuously in the 2 min 01 sec lap times for the entire 20 laps, which ultimately proved too much for the rest of the chasing pack.

Team TARA-DTM had a fantastic outing this weekend with their driver Armaan Ebrahim winning both races.

Apart from thanking the Almighty for guiding him, an elated Armaan said,''I would then like to thank my entire team for bending their backs for me to see to it that I had a reliable and perfect car for the race.

''Pady was fantastic as usual and Fabien, my team manager was the perfect balance in ensuring that everything was in order and also keeping my dad's blood pressure at bay.'' UNI
