Argentina routs Manipal

Kannur, Apr 24 (UNI) Buenos Aires, Argentina, routed North Imphal Sporting Association (NISA), 7-1, in a Pool B League match in the second E K Nayanar Memorial Gold Cup International Football Tournament here today.

The winners led 3-1 in the first session.

Argentina began the proceedings right from the word go and dominated the match throughout. It was Dario Batalla opened the score board in the 28th minute, followed by Federico Rodrguez (40th) Adrian Martinez (45th) Sub Miguel Giles (53rd), Maxmiliano Ractoret (62nd and 86th) and subtitute Federico Gatti (79) completed the tally.

Manipur Captain O Pritam scored the loan goal for the losers in the 33rd minute.

The defeat of Manipur brightened the chances of Air India, who had already scored four points from two matches. They would take Manipur in the last league encounter tomorrow.
